C4 Fraction

General Characteristics
C4 fraction is a mixture of liquified hydrocarbons with prevailing content of 4 carbon atoms in their molecules. It is manufactured by fractional distillation of pyrolysis gases from steam cracking of oil fractions. It is an easily volatile, flammable and combustible substance of characteristic odour.

C4 fraction is used as an intermediate for the production of chemical substances (1,3-butadiene and isobutane) and is used during its whole life cycle under strictly controlled conditions defined in article 18(4) of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 REACH.

The product is classified as hazardous pursuant to Act No. 350/20011 Coll. and corresponding EU legal regulations (Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 CLP, Directive No 67/548/EHS or Directive No 1999/45/EC.
