Employees of Unipetrol donate CZK 97,000 to Children’s Home in Most

17-03-2018

Prague, March 15, 2018 – As part of the annual Fulfilled Wishes charity collection, which supports non-profit activities at Unipetrol's locations, employees of the Unipetrol refining and petrochemical group raised money for the Children's Home in Most for the fourth time. We managed to collect over CZK 97,000. Overall, this year's collection by the Group's employees in five locations earned CZK 367,000.

A symbolic cheque worth CZK 97,052 has been handed over to the director of the Most Children’s Home, Mrs. Marcela Stütz: "We will spend the donated money primarily on holidays for our children. We will arrange some cultural events for the children and, of course, also modernise some equipment in our home. We are looking forward to it."

"I am very glad that we have supported the Children's Home in Most through our traditional Fulfilled Wishes collection for as many as four times. Direct and specific on-the-spot help works best," explains Jiří Hájek, Corporate Communications Director of Unipetrol Group, who adds: "We also received a gift - handmade ceramic gifts from a ten-year-old girl, Nikolka."

The Unipetrol Group Fulfilled Wishes employees’ collection has been taken place every year since 2011. This year’s collection earned CZK 367,000. The collected funds were redistributed among five non-profit organisations. "On a regular basis, we support the children's homes in Most and Kralupy and the Early Care Centre in Pardubice. Last year we expanded into cooperation with the Kociánka Centre in Brno and this year we approached the Mělník Centre that is part of Fokus Praha. We provide help in the vicinity of all our manufacturing plants," says Jiří Hájek, Unipetrol Group Corporate Communications Director. The total proceeds over seven years of the charitable collection are CZK 1,598,000.

The Most Children's Home and School Canteen (Dětský domov a školní jídelna) takes care of children within institutional care from three to eighteen years old or even longer if they are still studying for future occupations. The Home’s mission is to create optimal conditions for the all-round development of children, to create a stable environment to replace the family. This contributory organisation also includes the Mosťáček Children's Immediate Assistance Facility (Zařízení pro děti vyžadující okamžitou pomoc), whose role is to provide short-term help for children at risk until a long-term solution is found. The aim is to ensure a stable and pleasant environment for children aged between one and eighteen years. Another area is Dům na půl cesty – Do života, which provides residential services for young people aged 18-26 leaving children's homes when coming of age. It is all about supporting young people without a family background, who can inevitably find themselves less well-prepared for life situations after leaving institutional care.
