Given the nature of chemical production, safety at work is one of our key priorities. One important safety factor is the application and control of compliance with individual control system elements. Unipetrol has implemented and certified an ISO 14001 environmental management system (EMS), ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS), and OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety Management System (HSMS), which also represent a guarantee of a system approach to environmental and safety protection. Detailed information on the state and development of the Group's environmental impact is regularly published in Unipetrol's Joint Report on Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Protection.
In the Unipetrol Group, the necessary documents and plans are prepared for selected companies and their production sites in accordance with the Act on the Prevention of Major Accidents (Act No. 224/2015 Coll., as amended). The safety report provides information on the major accident prevention system, information on the environmental components surrounding the facility, a technical description of the facility and equipment, the procedure and results of risk identification (hazard), risk analyses and assessments, preventive measures and accident prevention measures and the restriction of their impact. Other documents include the Plan for Physical Protection of Buildings and the Internal Emergency Plan, which sets out measures within the facility to deal with a major accident and mitigate its impact. The transportation of dangerous goods is carried out in accordance with the ADR (European Agreement on the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road) and the RID (International Convention on the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail). Selected Unipetrol Group companies have developed a Safety Plan for the transportation of high-risk dangerous goods in accordance with the requirements of the ADR.
Entry and Movement in Production Facilities
All production areas have very strict occupational safety, health, fire protection, and worker and visitor regulations in place. Everyone who is present on the premises of the company and takes part in the implementation of investment or maintenance projects must complete initial training courses that are structured and specific both to manual workers and for visits or excursions. The movement of all workers and visitors across the premises is monitored by a specialised security firm. Every worker who has been granted a permit to move on the premises must show, inter alia, a certificate of initial training. If they are not identified, they are expelled from the premises. A strict ban on smoking and the use of narcotic substances is in place in all production facilities. Everyone who is in the production area can be called upon at any time to be tested for the presence of these substances in the body.
Fire Rescue Service
The company fire brigade rescue teams at the production facilities in Litvínov, Kralupy nad Vltavou, Neratovice, Pardubice and Kolín, are always ready not only to intervene on the premises of the production facilities but also to participate in the rescue activities of their colleagues from the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic beyond the facilities’ borders. The prevention work includes regular emergency drills in all areas of our group.
We want to be helpful in informing the public, so we cooperate with the towns of Litvínov and Most to send information via SMS messages. These SMS messages are an additional element of an already established and functional system for informing the public about emergencies. Details on how to register your SMS via the SMS Information Channel can be found on the websites of Most and Litvínov.
