Unipetrol employees contribute CZK 65,000 to the Kociánka Endowment Fund to modernize its centre

17-04-2018

Prague, April 17, 2018 — For the second time, employees of the refinery and petrochemical group Unipetrol have collected funds for the Kociánka Endowment Fund (Nadační fond Kociánka) in Brno. The annual Fulfilled Wishes (Splněná přání) charity collection supports non-profit activities in Unipetrol’s operations. This year, they raised more than CZK 65,000. This year’s campaign by Unipetrol employees at five locations raised a total of CZK 367,000.

A symbolic check for CZK 65,752 was handed to Tereza Ivičičová, Chairperson of Kociánka Endowment Fund. “We appreciate and thank you very much for this support. I am very glad our cooperation is becoming a tradition. The funds received will be used to re-equip and modernise medical and rehabilitation facilities, and some of the money will be spent on leisure activities for our clients.”

“I am happy our charity collection Fulfilled Wishes has supported the Kociánka Endowment Fund for the second time. Direct and concrete help works best on the spot”, explained Jiří Pác, Head of Unipetrol Group’s Polymer Institute Brno Research Centre. “We also cooperate on volunteer days. Our employees always help with spring cleaning in the park at the Kociánka Centre”, he added.

The Unipetrol Group employee collection Fulfilled Wishes has been held every year since 2011. This year, a total of CZK 367,000 was raised. The funds were distributed between five non-profit organizations. “Among the organizations we regularly support are the children’s homes in Most and Kralupy and the Early Care Centre in Pardubice. Last year, we extended our cooperation to the Kociánka Endowment Fund in Brno. This year we approached the Mělník Centre, part of Fokus Praha. We are helping in areas nearby all our manufacturing plants and research centres”, said Jiří Hájek, Corporate Communications Director of the Unipetrol Group. The total proceeds from all seven years of the charity collection is CZK 1,598,000.

The Kociánka Endowment Fund (Nadační fond Kociánka) was established in 1997, transformed from the Foundation for Disabled Youth founded in 1991 to help disabled children and youth at the Institute for Physically Disabled Children and Youth in Brno (Ústavu pro tělesně postižené děti a mládež). The Kociánka Endowment Fund is helping to remove the barriers between healthy and disabled people and aims to improve the user environment, contribute to their cultural development and education, support hippotherapy and rehabilitation, and develop awareness-raising activities.
