This year the Unipetrol Group will invest almost half a billion Czech crowns into modernising its benzene production. The most essential part of the facilities involved in this investment is currently travelling by road to the Litvínov-based Unipetrol RPA.Litvínov, 04. 06. 2008 – The towing vehicle with the gigantic load, which will leave the premises of Sekos in Ústí nad Labem today at 20.30, is transporting the basic part of a new production facility to the Unipetrol area in Záluží in the Most area. It is a fractionating column, which will reach the height of 50 meters after installation. The column for benzene distillation will help Unipetrol RPA to increase its production capacities for this important chemical substance from 210 to 250 kt/year.
The new unit for the petrochemical part of the Unipetrol RPA production should be, according to plan, fully operational before the year is over. The total costs of this modernisation will reach almost half a billion Czech crowns.
This year the Unipetrol Group is planning investments to the total amount of CZK 6.5 billion. At least sixty percent of that is allotted to petrochemicals. Apart from intensifying the petrochemical units, where there are also plans to increase production capacities for ethylene and polyolefins, construction of a new butadiene unit will start.
The oversize transport with the fractionating column will reach Litvínov on 5th June around noon. After arrival the unit will be unloaded immediately and its installation at the prepared base will start. The truck with the column is 62 meters long in total, with its cargo it is 4.5 meters high and 3.2 meters wide. Unipetrol already asked the drivers to be careful, apart from asking also for their patience and understanding. Transporting this unit by any other means is impossible.
