Prague, 5 June 2017 - Unipetrol succeeded in the 15th Employer of the Year Award de-fending its second place in the Ústí Region in the category of up to 5,000 employees.
„AGC glass manufacturer and petrochemical group Unipetrol are strengthening their positions among the best employers of the Ústí Region. Quite interesting and unique is also the historical ownership role of now international companies towards the traditional clubs of FK Teplice or HC VERVA Litvínov. This is also a proof of the high level of their social responsibility towards their employees as well as the entire region,“ commented Pavel Hulák, director of the Employers’ Club, on the results in the name of the organizer.
„We appreciate this award very much. In recent years, the Unipetrol Group has been undergoing integration connected with various and often diverse corporate cultures of the individual companies. This award is a proof that we are successfully implementing this sensitive process,“ says Michał Chmiel, HR director of the Unipetrol Group, adding: „It is very important for us to provide long-term support for education. Here we stepped up this year with the newly established Unipetrol Foundation.“
The winners received their awards during the ceremony for the Ústí and Liberec Region at the University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně in Ústí nad Labem on Thursday, 1 June 2017. The Sodexo Employer of the Year 2017 Award is announced by Employers’ Club, generally beneficial company, under the auspices of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. PricewaterhouseCoopers Česká republika s.r.o., the event’s professional guarantor, prepares documents for evaluation of the registered companies.
Unipetrol employs 4,500 people in the Czech Republic, a large number of them in the Ústí Region where it is among the most important employers. Together with its employees, the company is actively involved in care of surroundings. Every year, it organizes the employee collection called Fulfilled Wishes, the proceeds of which are aimed at support of non-profit organizations in the Ústí, Central Bohemia and Pardubice Regions. During the regular volunteer days, the employees then help in these non-profit organizations. Furthermore, Unipetrol provides financial support to the neighbor municipalities and towns and finances also the regular fish planting into the Bílina and Elbe Rivers.
As part of the promotion of technical fields and education of pupils, students and teachers, Unipetrol also cooperates with a number of high schools as well as with the University of Chemistry and Tech-nology, Prague. This year, it established the Unipetrol Foundation which will distribute at least six million crowns between high schools, high school and university students from all over the Czech Republic in scholarship and grant programs.
