Benzina ORLEN heads to cities and opens a shop based on the Stop Cafe concept in Prague’s Karlín

18-02-2021

Benzina ORLEN is expanding its Stop Cafe fast food concept from forecourts to traditional brick-and-mortar shops in city centres. The first shop was opened in Thámova Street in Prague-Karlín right at the Křižíkova metro station. It offers a broad portfolio of food products and fast food, including the premium coffee and popular hotdogs. Benzina ORLEN plans to open two more shops in Prague during the year and then expand to other towns and cities.

“We have been a long-time leader in the Czech market and a preferred choice of Czech motorists. We offer excellent fuels, top and innovative services, and increasingly popular refreshments. That is why we have decided to use our non-filling station experience, just like our parent ORLEN Group. The Stop Cafe brand is quite frequented and highly popular with our customers. The entry into the segment of traditional brick-and-mortar shops is a logical step towards being even closer to our customers. We want to accompany them on their way to work or relaxation, even when they do not sit behind the wheel. Our modern Stop Cafe shop offers a wide selection of food products, including the popular products from our filling stations. They can also enjoy our delicious coffee and snacks. I firmly believe this model will prove successful, and we will continue expanding,” said Tomasz Wiatrak, CEO of the ORLEN Unipetrol Group, which also includes Benzina ORLEN.

The Stop Cafe gastro concept was introduced in the Czech Republic in 2010. It is now available in 313 out of 419 Benzina ORLEN outlets. It is becoming increasingly popular for its varied cuisine, offering a rich selection, from traditional to international meals. The concept’s menu does not forget about healthy diet trends and even vegetarians. “Refreshments are the fastest-growing segment for us. Their volume has grown by more than 300% since 2012. Product quality and the way we prepare the meals are a crucial aspect for us. Our key products include the fair-trade coffee mixed according to a unique recipe in Belgium. We keep expanding our Stop Cafe offering. The customers in Karlín can be looking forward to both the popular hotdogs they know from our filling stations and fresh pastry and baguettes, salads, and various desserts,” adds Marek Zouvala, director of the Benzina ORLEN network.

The basic food products offered at Stop Cafe include bakery products, fresh-packed baguettes and sandwiches, desserts, sweets, snacks, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. There is also a selection of tobacco products and non-tobacco alternatives such as electronic cigarettes and HTPs.

The Stop Cafe shop is designed for a quick purchase. Coffee payment can be made directly on the coffee machine via payment cards. Like at filling stations, customers can use their Benzina ORLEN – Tankarta Easy fuel card for payments at cash register. They can also enjoy the benefits of a loyalty programme available through the Benzina aplikace mobile app. They can also use meal voucher cards by Sodexo, Edenred (Ticket), Up (Chéque Déjeuner), Lidl and Benefitka for food product payments. Such payments do not apply to non-food products, i.e., other supplementary products.

Benzina ORLEN is part of the ORLEN Unipetrol Group, a member of the international ORLEN Group. It operates the largest network of filling stations in the Czech Republic. It originated in 1958, and it is a traditional, yet modern brand of Czech motorists, characterised by the provision of high-quality fuels and customer services. Besides EFECTA fuels with a purifying effect, Benzina ORLEN also offers premium VERVA fuels and a broad portfolio of refreshments within its STOP CAFÉ concept. Benzina ORLEN issues EASY and BUSINESS fuel cards and offers two mobile apps for its customers: the Benzina loyalty app and a carwash app, Mycí digi linka. In the Czech Republic, Benzina ORLEN operates 419 stations and has a market share of 25%. It entered the Slovak market in 2019 by opening the first outlet in Malacky. Benzina ORLEN’s Slovak network currently comprises 20 stations.
