Litvínov, March 19, 2015 – In scope of fire-fighting equipment renewal at Unipetrol RPA Fire Department, there was obtained a new technical vehicle whose equipment is adapted not only to the specifics of chemical plants. Depending on needs, it can be used also for actions in the Ústí region. Its equipment includes technical means dedicated for rescuing people from vehicles in traffic accidents, equipment for rescuing people from heights and depths, or tools for rescuing people who are in inaccessible area. Unipetrol RPA has invested in new technology more than 8.5 million CZK.
"The vehicle with wheel frame MAN 18.340 4x4 is equipped with an automatic external defibrillator, several kinds of stretchers, vacuum fixation splints, pharmacy and resuscitation units," says commander of Unipetrol RPA Fire Department Petr Králert. "On the wheel frame of vehicle, there is installed a rope drum with force up to 5 tons useful for example for rescuing of vehicles. The 6m long telescopic mast ensures the lightening of the area during an action," explains Petr Králert. The equipment includes a chain and abrasive saw, standard hand tools, electrician tool kit, but also high-pressure fire extinguishing equipment.
The firefighters of Unipetrol RPA can also ventilate the rooms where there is a danger of explosion with a smoke extractor or overdraw heavily concentrated acids or alkalis. The hydraulic crane provides lifting of loads weighing 1075 kg up to a height of 14 meters, or lining in up to 10 meters. It is used for example in manipulation with vehicles in traffic accidents and for the disposal of baffles in the company´s premises. With the use of pneumatic lifting bags, it can be carried out rescuing or lifting of heavy loads up to 40 tons. For technical rescue work is the vehicle not used individually, but in principle together with the ambulance.
Unipetrol RPA firefighters also help in the Ústí region
During 2014 the operating centre of Ústí region called the firefighters to the fire outside the plant in total nineteen times. In six cases it dealt with the consequences of accidents. At the beginning of March this year, the firemen from Unipetrol RPA went for example to a fire of a plastics manufacturing company in Korozluky near Most.
Unipetrol RPA Fire Brigade has in total 75 employees and it is a part of the integrated rescue system. It is also included in the plan of area coverage within the Ústí region. The firefighters are working in three twenty-four hour shifts. A full shift is covered by twenty-three people.
Within the Transport information accident system (TRINS) the unit can provide assistance in all three stages, i.e. consultation regarding disposal of an emergency with an expert, visit of the place by a specialist and action of units with the necessary technique.
