Prague, June 13, 2019 – The Unipetrol Foundation gave the Veltrusy elementary school CZK 47,500 for the purchase of chemistry teaching kits. This is the amount the Foundation obtained by auctioning three paintings of the all-round artist Kateřina Kaira Hrachovcová, who also handed over the gift, together with the Chairwoman of the Board of the Unipetrol Foundation, Katarzyna Woś.
“Thank you for the financial support that we greatly appreciate. We will buy new chemistry kits, which our students are already looking forward to. Our chemistry teachers will have a new means to engage their students and make the learning more attractive. At our school, the chemical kits will be used to their fullest,” said the School Principal Světlana Racková.
The proceeds from the auction of paintings in the amount of CZK 45,700 were personally handed over by the Chairwoman of the Board of the Unipetrol Foundation, Katarzyna Woś, and the actress and painter Kateřina Kaira Hrachovcová, who donated three paintings to the Unipetrol Foundation. “I am grateful to the Foundation for the pleasant cooperation and inspiration. In this way, I could donate a piece of myself and I am very pleased that the amount gained from the auction of the paintings will support the education of pupils in the municipality of Veltrusy,“ said Kateřina Kaira Hrachovcová, author of the paintings.
“It is very nice both for me and for the Foundation, to hand a gift that will allow the elementary school students to unveil the secrets of chemistry and promote their interest in chemistry as such,” added Katarzyna Woś, Chairwoman of the Board of the Unipetrol Foundation.
About the Unipetrol FoundationThe Unipetrol Foundation started its activity in 2017. During the two years of its scholarship program, scholarships were distributed among 88 high school and university students in the fields of science and technology in the total amount of CZK 3.3 million. The grant program of the Foundation aimed at supporting the educational and scientific activities of high schools has already distributed CZK 5.5 million to thirty high schools across the country. The third area of its activities is dedicated to supporting special scientific projects.
