Unipetrol employee’s photo wins Czech Industry Challenge

22-10-2019

Unipetrol has won the first prize in the Czech Industry Challenge backed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The award-winning photograph, ‘Unipetrol Industry Beauty’, by Unipetrol’s employee Bohuslav Rybín was also selected as one of the top 25 images for a travelling educative exhibition. The first year of the contest focused on increasing attractiveness of the Czech industrial environment among potential employees.

We are pleased by the extraordinary success of Mr Bohuslav Rybín, a foreman at our Litvínov plant,” says Michał Chmiel, HR director of the Unipetrol Group, adding: “His picture uniquely captures the industrial beauty and atmosphere of our chemical plant in Litvínov-Záluží. The site houses more than one thousand buildings, tens of kilometres of roads and railway lines and thousands of kilometres of electricity distribution lines, telecommunications networks and pipes. We are pleased that his talents and hobby have won so much respect.”

Bohuslav Rybín’s photo entitled ‘Unipetrol Industry Beauty’ won in the category of ‘Industrial Photography with an Artistic Reach’. The artistic adjustments of the photo were made by Michal Černich from Unipetrol´s marketing department

“I like taking pictures in the industrial environments which have been fascinating me all my life. I often encounter amazing sights during my work errands at the Litvínov plant. They get impressed on my mind and when I have an opportunity, I take a picture of them. It is also very true about the technology environments that the best pictures can be captured early in the morning or in the evening when there is the best light. But I like night pictures best when the industrial images are veiled in a specific magic,” says Bohuslav Rybín, production foreman at Unipetrol and author of the award-winning image.

A jury of experts has included his photograph among the 25 best images from the Czech industry which will form a travelling educative exhibition, ‘Czech Industry Photo’. The exhibition debuted at the International Engineering Fair in Brno on October 7 and it is designed primarily for job candidates, children, young people and their parents.

The Czech Industry Challenge is a new project aimed at increasing attractiveness of the Czech industry for new employees and ensuring its subsequent growth. It also seeks to popularise individual industries and show the quality of work of Czech people through public sector partners, industry organisations and technical schools. The Czech Industry Challenge juries consist of five members – experts in photography, graphics, HR, marketing communication, PR, psychology, IT, web design and animation. In the first year of the contest, the Unipetrol Group submitted entries in all four categories, including ‘Industrial Photography with an Artistic Reach’, ‘Recruitment Campaign’, ‘Corporate Website’ and ‘An Extraordinary Challenge’.
