Inhabitants of Litvínov and Most have submitted a total of 260 improvement suggestions this autumn. The ‘Unipetrol to People’ campaign has now reached its final stage. A jury composed of the representatives of Unipetrol and the towns of Litvínov and Most has selected three proposals for each town from which the final project will be picked. The winning project will be implemented, with Unipetrol’s financial support, in each town next year. Voting runs until the end of January and people can have their say by throwing votes in public spaces in both towns, in a special tramway, on the internet or by texting a message.

“The public response to the first stage of our campaign has been huge. Their active involvement has been very important for us because it is them who know best what is most needed in their towns,” says Tomáš Herink, a Member of the Board of Directors of the Unipetrol Group, adding: “The commission comprising the representatives of both towns and our company has selected three projects for each town. The winning proposals will be implemented together with the towns next year.”

Besides Katarzyna Woś, Vice-chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Unipetrol Group, and Tomáš Herink, a Member of the Board of Directors of the Unipetrol Group, the members of the commission choosing the final projects included Kamila Bláhová, Mayor of Litvínov, Jan Paparega, Mayor of Most, and Julie Růžičková, Director of Unipetrol Foundation.

In Most, people will choose from the following projects: installing a public Wi-Fi network at selected locations, planting trees and building a dog park. “I would like to thank all inhabitants of our city who have involved their ideas in the campaign. I was very pleasantly surprised how many proposals arrived. Do not hesitate and vote for one of the three projects, which will be implemented next year in our city Most. Will it be a dog park, public Wi-Fi, or planting new trees? ” said Jan Paparega, Mayor of Most.

In Litvínov, people have an opportunity to choose from the following projects: renovation of the Citadela House of Culture, revitalisation of the vicinity of the ‘Pilař’ pond and construction of a skate park. Kamila Bláhová, Mayor of Litvínov, added: “I appreciate the fact that Unipetrol has embarked on this campaign that it has found another way to support the towns where it operates. I am glad that inhabitants of selected towns registered the survey and sent their suggestions to it. Also shortlisted were three very interesting projects for Litvínov. We will see which of them the citizens ultimately decide to vote by.”

Voting runs until the end of January 2020. People can throw their votes into green boxes placed in public locations in Most and Litvínov, including a special tramway. They can also text a message to 736 304 031 or use online voting at www.unipetrollidem.cz where they can find all the relevant project information.
