Prague, October 24, 2019 – Refinery and petrochemical group Unipetrol has published its financial results for the third quarter of 2019. Revenue amounted to CZK 34.8 billion. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA LIFO) totalled CZK 2.5 billion. The net profit stood at CZK 1.0 billion. In the retail segment, Unipetrol continued cementing its leading position in the Czech Republic and developing its activities in Slovakia.
“We saw good results in the third quarter, too. We were successful in both wholesale and retail segments and thus we managed to generate a net profit of CZK one billion despite the challenging macroeconomic situation. In the retail segment, we continue in modernization of Benzina filling stations. We have already equipped almost 300 stations with the Stop Cafe concept. We carry on expanding out network in Slovakia, where we want to become one of the key players soon,” said Tomasz Wiatrak, CEO of the Unipetrol Group.
The volume of processed oil amounted to 2.132 million tonnes. Sales volumes of refinery products amounted to 1.796 million tonnes and of petrochemical products to 429 thousand tonnes. Investments in the third quarter amounted to CZK 1.4 billion. Unipetrol is continuing modernization of the Benzina network, expanding the Stop Cafe gastro concept and preparing a new polyethylene unit start-up.
In the third quarter, Unipetrol operated 413 service stations under the Benzina brand in the Czech Republic and equipped 16 more stations with the Stop Cafe concept which is already available at 298 stations. Unipetrol increased its market share in the retail sale of vehicle fuels in the Czech Republic to 24%. At the end of September, the Slovak antimonopoly office confirmed that Benzina can take over seven more filling stations in western Slovakia which are now gradually being put into operation.
