In reaction to the spread of COVID-19, Benzina is strengthening the previously adopted security measures. The largest chain of filling stations in the Czech Republic is installing Perspex screens at all of its 416 stations to limit any direct contact between the staff and customers. The installation work started on Tuesday and is expected to be completed in the coming days.
“I want to thank all the people working at our stations. We immensely appreciate their first-line work in these challenging days. We are glad they continue providing our customers with the best services possible,” said Marek Zouvala, Director of the Benzina network. He added: “Due to the lack of respirators, we have decided to install protective Perspex screens in our outlets. We deal with this situation every day and continue doing our best to strengthen further the actions we have already taken.”
On 14 March, Benzina stopped selling all fresh non-packaged products, closed relaxation zones, and ceased the operation of handwashing options, carpet hoovers and washers. The company uses information posts at the filling stations, the website and social networks to update its customers on what to do at the stations and how to behave to minimise the risk of transmission of the infection. It also appeals to the clients to use single-use gloves when pumping, as well as contactless payments and especially Benzina’s mobile apps when paying for products and services. The “Benzina platby” app offers direct payments at the pump while the “Mycí Digi Linka” app enables to access and control the carwash with a mobile phone. Therefore, these applications eliminate the need to enter business premises.
“We ask our customers to understand this situation, to be considerate and to respect these measures. They should prefer mobile applications when paying and pay in cash only in extreme cases. If they need to go inside the shop, they should wear any mouth and nose protection, enter individually, keep a minimum distance of 2 m as well as the limit of the maximum of two customers in the shop. We want to apologize for this inconvenience, but these are necessary measures to protect the health of the staff and customers,” Marek Zouvala concludes.
