The Fulfilled Wishes helped seven organisations with a record-high sum of CZK 0.5m

21-10-2020

As part of the annual charity entitled Fulfilled Wishes, employees of refining and petrochemical group Unipetrol have supported charity activities in the locations where Unipetrol has its manufacturing or research sites. They have raised the highest-ever sum of CZK 508,740. The money went to selected organisations across the Czech Republic. The funds will be used to develop services, buy the necessary aids, or support activities of small and adult clients of non-profit organisations. The first ever Fulfilled Wishes fundraising collection for Unipetrol Group employees took place in 2011. Unipetrol always matches the amount collected. Almost CZK 2.5 million has already been donated to those who need it since 2011.

“Together with our employees, we help not-for-profit organisations that are active in the regions where our manufacturing sites are situated. We have experienced that direct and targeted help works better. During the most recent round of Fulfilled Wishes, we supported seven organisations. The donation worth CZK 0.5 million helped abandoned, handicapped, or ill children, adults, and seniors in Litvínov, Most, Kralupy nad Vltavou, Pardubice, Brno, and Neratovice,“ said Katarzyna Woś, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Unipetrol Foundation and Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Unipetrol Group. Unipetrol Group employees have also decided to support the Unipetrol Foundation that helps talented students who are interested in natural sciences, she added.

Středisko rané péče v Pardubicích (Early Care Centre in Pardubice)

The management of the Unipetrol Group traditionally meets the representatives of not-for-profit organisations in person, thus having an opportunity to learn more about their specific work. “Due to the coronavirus situation, we needed to reduce these activities. We held only one meeting at the Early Care Centre in Pardubice,” Katarzyna Woś commented. Unipetrol employees raised a total of CZK 49,678 for the Centre. It used the funds to buy special and didactic aids to support the development of children with severe handicaps, e.g. polio, severe prematureness, or the Down syndrome. The aids are loaned directly to the families as part of the Centre’s fieldwork.

“Pojďte dál” association in Neratovice and Children’s Home in Kralupy

In Central Bohemia, the Neratovice-based association, “Pojďte dál”, received a contribution of CZK 41,846. It used the money to support training, education, and sports activities of the mentally disabled. They could also organise English lessons, lessons of self-service fundamentals, and integration into normal life.

The Children’s Home in Kralupy nad Vltavou received a total of CZK 65,246. They used the sum to buy new and modern furniture for the children’s rooms. This extensive and long-term project also involves the replacement of old-fashioned and worn furniture and purchases of new furniture. For example, it aims that each child should have his/her desk and chair.

Nursing home Naděje Litvínov and Children’s Home in Most

The Naděje Litvínov nursing home in the north of Bohemia received CZK 121,312 from the collection. It purchased a defibrillator and pill crusher as well as new washing machines and bedclothes. The other local organisation, the Children’s Home in Most, obtained CZK 82,512. Thanks to this contribution, children could go to children’s camps during the summer. They also took part in a day camp in Svinčice where they were involved in horse-riding activities.

Kociánka Brno Endowment Fund

The clients of the Kociánka Brno Endowment Fund received new aids for the sensory integration and overall improvement of the speech therapy office. The organisation also bought new aids for the day-care centre and playing pieces for the relaxation zone that is part of hippotherapy. These activities could be implemented thanks to the CZK 62,846 donation received within the Fulfilled Wishes collection.

Unipetrol Foundation

The Unipetrol Foundation was a part of the fundraising event for the first time. It received a total of CZK 85,300. The Foundation will use the money for a Kralupy primary school project that was registered in the Foundation’s school grant programme. It aims to create an end-to-end series of textbooks for practical classes in natural sciences. It also wants to purchase a 3D printer for educational purposes. The project also involves the representatives of Technopark in Kralupy nad Vltavou. This building provides space for the cooperation of experts from the University of Chemistry and Technology (VŠCHT) and Czech Technical University (ČVUT).
