ORLEN Unipetrol is the second-best employer in Ústí Region

31-05-2022

Refining and petrochemical group ORLEN Unipetrol received the silver medal in the regional round of the Employer of the Year 2022 competition. The second place in this year’s ranking for the best employer in the Ústí Region has improved the group’s position by one notch compared to last year.

ORLEN Unipetrol has again confirmed that caring for employees is its long-term priority. In the Ústí Region alone, the group employs over 2,600 people out of the total number of 5,000 employees. The 20th independent chart for the Employer of the Year compared companies active in the Czech Republic in terms of human resources. It aims to appreciate firms with a distinctive approach to their employees. The announcement of the best businesses in individual regions will be followed by the nationwide finals. In addition to employee care, ORLEN Unipetrol’s HR strategy was also praised for its intensive support of Czech schools and education.

“We manage to constantly improve the care for our employees despite the challenging times when we must face many adverse events with global impacts. We help them both with professional and personal development. This impression is reinforced by this year’s second place in the regionals of the prestigious and independent competition, Employer of the Year. We immensely value this position. For us, it is also a strong driving force motivating us in continuously intensive HR efforts,” says Michał Chmiel, HR Director of the ORLEN Unipetrol Group. He accepted the award at the official ceremony in Liběchov.

“ORLEN Unipetrol has been among the Employer of the Year awardees for many years. It has further cemented and even improved its position this year,” explains Pavel Hulák, Director of the Employers’ Club, which organises the competition. He adds: “ORLEN Unipetrol significantly surpasses standard levels in most indicators, whether in wages and salaries, learning efforts, or career growth. What is more, the group extensively supports Czech schools and education with many unique activities and projects.”

The Employers’ Club ranked ORLEN Unipetrol in second place among the employers in the Ústí Region based on a comprehensive assessment of entrants. The independent evaluation is based on the international methodology of PricewaterhouseCoopers Czech Republic, which prepares supporting documentation as an expert guarantor. The competition, organised since 2003, aims to present companies with an outstanding approach to employees to the public.

ORLEN Unipetrol is one of the most significant employers in the Ústí Region, both in terms of the employee headcount and its long-term enforcement of modern employee approach trends. Standard HR tools, including a broad portfolio of benefits and support for each individual’s personal and professional development, are complemented by backing employees’ sports, social, and community engagement. The company’s HR strategy also focuses on supporting Czech schools and students. Together with the ORLEN Unipetrol Foundation, they seek to boost schoolchildren’s interest in chemistry. Every year, scholarship and grant programmes provide financial rewards to hundreds of talented students and help teachers and dozens of secondary schools and universities in the Czech Republic.
