Each year, ORLEN Unipetrol Group employees contribute to a good cause as part of the Fulfilled Wishes charity. This year, they raised a record-high CZK 327,366. The ORLEN Unipetrol Foundation matched this sum. So, a total of CZK 654,732 will be distributed among seven charitable organisations in the seven locations where the ORLEN Unipetrol Group is active. Employees have donated nearly CZK 5 million to charity over 13 years of the employee collection’s existence.
“We hold the charity collection regularly at the end of the year. The number of employees involved in this charity keeps increasing every year. We match the sum raised and distribute it among non-profit organisations in our Group’s locations through the ORLEN Unipetrol Foundation. We are very proud to have achieved this sum this year. I want to use this opportunity to thank all employees contributing to a good cause this year,” says Katarzyna Woś, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the ORLEN Unipetrol Foundation.
The fundraising took place from December 2023 to January 2024. Employees could join it using a well-arranged electronic and paper form and pick the amount and organisation to help. The total of CZK 654,732 will be distributed among the following non-profit organisations that are active in the locations of ORLEN Unipetrol’s production plants.
Where will the charity yields go?
- Borůvka Praha – to employ disabled people and barrier-free transport to school
- Children’s home in Kralupy nad Vltavou – to buy new equipment for children’s stays in the mountains
- Senior home Naděje Litvínov – to buy special armchairs and chairs for seniors, aids for occupational therapy (ergotherapy), painting the common area and rooms, culture and trips
- Kociánka Brno – for animal therapy, hipporehabilitation, and hipporehabilitation aids
- Pojďte dál Neratovice – to buy work equipment and support disabled sportspeople
- Early Care Centre in Pardubice – to buy new toys, teaching and special aids
- Handicap Zlín – to support the Club for Children and Youth
The ORLEN Unipetrol Foundation provides many other charitable activities in various areas. It has long been engaged in supporting all levels of education, educational projects, and local communities around the sites of ORLEN Unipetrol Group’s production plants. The Foundation is also committed to environmental projects, including fish releases into the rivers Bílina and Elbe, bee honey harvesting at Spolana Neratovice, and support of peregrine falcons nesting in all production sites of the Group.
About the ORLEN Unipetrol Foundation
The ORLEN Unipetrol Foundation launched its activities in 2017. Its primary mission is to support education and popularise science, primarily natural sciences and technical disciplines, as well as corporate social responsibility, emphasising local communities and the environment. The Foundation has long been engaged in supporting schools, teachers, and students with grant programmes. The educational project, ‚Plastík a jeho kouzelný kufřík‘, provides schoolchildren from the first to the fifth grade with an excursion into the world of chemistry through entertaining experiments. www.nouonline.cz. Beginning in 2024, the Foundation is also committed to corporate social responsibility related to the environment, support of local communities, and volunteering. Such activities include championing volunteer and community projects, fundraising, fish releases into rivers, nesting of endangered peregrine falcons, and beekeeping. The Foundation cooperates with many non-profit organisations on a long-term basis but also reacts to current events in society and emergencies.
