According to 2004 consolidated results the Unipetrol Group reached a pretax profit of CZK 4 879,7 million, which is a significant improvement as compared with the last year´s loss of CZK 406,3 million. Favourable situation in the chemical industry reflected also in the increase of total sales which amounted to CZK 85,824 billion last year. As compared with the figures achieved in 2003, the achieved sales represent an increase by almost CZK 18 billion.

All in all, we can state that the results of the Unipetrol Group follow the trends of economic development in the European market of the chemical industry. Another positive of the last year is that the operating efficiency went up.

Last year´s results of the Group are based on good performance of subsidiaries, as they all reached a profit in the accounting period, and some of them marked even their best results in the past ten years. These are particularly Chemopetrol whose pretax profit amounted to CZK 2,118 billion and Unipetrol Rafinérie whose pretax profit totalled 1,478 billion.
