The total revenues of the group for the monitored period exceeded CZK 32bn (of which the revenues for sale of own products and services amounted to almost CZK 24.5bn, revenues for sale of goods reached CZK 7.7bn). The decrease in revenues compared to the first half of last year (then they exceeded CZK 35.8bn) is determined by a change in the accounting method.

Total assets of the Unipetrol group amounted to CZK 69.2bn.

KAUČUK, a.s.

In the first half of 2003 Kauèuk generated a before tax profit of CZK 140m which means improvement by almost CZK 21m compared to the same period of last year. Revenues of the company compared to the same period of last year grew by almost CZK 658m. The growth in revenues was impacted mainly by higher prices of petrochemical commodities.

BENZINA a.s.

Benzina a.s. reported a loss of CZK 120m in the first half of the current year. The net loss was determined mainly by decrease in the sales margins of the company during this period. Revenues of the company reached CZK 6.9bn (in year-on-year comparison the index of revenue growth is 115%). This growth was impacted in particularly by a higher share of fuel wholesales to different industries.

CHEMOPETROL, a.s.

In the first half of 2003 Chemopetrol generated an after tax profit of CZK 193.8m, when compared to a loss of CZK 82.2m for the same period of last year this represents improvement of CZK 276m. Compared to the first quarter when the company reported a loss due to unfavourable petrochemical margins, the situation on the market in the second quarter improved: stabilisation of prices of monomers and the growth in the prices of polymers together with the decrease in prices on the market of oil products led to increased petrochemical margins that were reflected positively in the net profit of the company.

Revenues for own products and services reached CZK 10,113m which represents a 21.8 % year-on-year increase. The growth in sales was impacted mainly by higher sales of polypropylene and polyethylene from new units.

SPOLANA a.s.

In the first half of the current year Spolana reported a loss amounting to CZK 313.6m. The net loss of the company was mainly caused by decrease in the revenues compared to the plan (i.e. in chemical production and energy the deviation from the estimates reaches CZK 778m).

Spolana sold goods and services totalling CZK 2.659bn (in 2002 the revenues for goods and services amounted to CZK 2.690bn). The company takes measures to reduce its fixed costs and restructure.

PARAMO, a.s.

Paramo, joint-stock company, generated a profit of CZK 26.9m in the first half of the current year with total revenues amounting to CZK 2.1bn. During the same period last year the company generated a profit of CZK 76m with revenues amounting to CZK 2.2bn. The profit was negatively impacted in particular by high prices of crude oil and the development of refinery margins during the period.

By completing purchase of minority shareholders’ share in Koramo a.s., Paramo increased its long-term financial assets by CZK 83m.

ČESKÁ RAFINÉRSKÁ, a.s.

Česká Rafinérská generated a before tax profit of CZK 372m in the first half of the current year. The turnover for this period accounted for CZK 22.4bn (during the same period of last year the company reported a profit of CZK 754m with a turnover of CZK 19.2bn). During this period the company produced and sold more than two million tonnes of final products (in a year-on-year comparison the production grew by almost 4 per cent). The growth was accounted for mainly by supplies of heating oils, liquid gas and automotive petrol to the domestic market and supplies of road asphalt and diesel fuels for export.

UNIPETROL, a.s.

The parent company of the group reported a before tax loss for the first half of the current year amounting to CZK 2.88m with total revenues for the sale of its own products and services amounting to CZK 83m.​
