Pupils from the 18th primary school in Most on Okružní won equipment for their school’s chemistry lab
Litvínov, 27 June 2014 – More than 700 pupils from the Ústí Region participated in the Open Day which was held on 20 June by UNIPETROL RPA and ČESKÁ RAFINÉRSKÁ. Interesting programme included a sightseeing tour by bus around the chemical complex in Záluží, demonstrations of lessons in modern chemistry and the interactive educational programme Journey in search of the secret of crude oil.
“As in the past we registered a big level of interest in the event from primary and secondary schools in the Ústí Region. We are sure that we were able to present chemistry in an interesting and modern manner and that interest on the part of students in this field will gradually increase,” says Łukasz Piotrowski, Executive Director of Unipetrol RPA. „We live here with you, not only beside of you – this is also an important mission of the event,“ adds Anna Wydrzyńska, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Česká rafinérská.
Among others, the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague and the secondary vocational school EDUCHEM also gave presentations at the Open Day.Unipetrol showed pupils the premises of the newly renovated UniCRE research and development centre, which is waiting for the grand opening in the autumn.
The main programme of the Open Day took place in front of the Unipetrol RPA administrative building. A minute of modern chemistry organized by VSCHT and sight-seeing tours of the complex by bus were a great attraction, taking visitors to places where entrance is otherwise forbidden to the public. A total of 13 sightseeing tours were held with more than 400 people taking part. The capacity of the presentation given by the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague entitled Countdown to modern chemistry was also completely filled.
Other interesting events and competitions were prepared for children and adults during the course of the whole day. In the main competition, in terms of which pupils were able to win chemistry lab equipment for their school worth CZK 5,000, the team from the 18th Primary School in Most on Okružní won in the end.
The Open Day in Chempark Záluží takes place regularly once every two years, first one was held 8th June 2002.
