Brno, July 10, 2012 – A new granulation line for the production of a wide spectrum of additive concentrates was put into trial operation at the Polymer Institute Brno (PIB), which forms a part of the Unipetrol Group . The line will make the production more efficient, doubling the production capacity. It will also extend the spectrum of the manufactured products. The investment for the new granulation line amounts to 12 million Czech crowns .
“The capacity of the new granulation line is greater than the original one and that is why we expect the annual production of the concentrates to grow to more than 1,000 tons. We always strive to satisfy our customers not only from the perspective of our product quality but also with regard to the delivery times. Thanks to the capacity of the new line, which is two and half times greater than the old one, we will be able to reduce our delivery times significantly,” said Karel Šula, manager of the Marketing and Sales Department of the Polymer Institute Brno.
Most of the products produced on the granulation line are UV stabilizers, which provide protection against ultraviolent radiation to various materials, such as foils, straps, fibers and other products. The second most important product is represented by color concentrates for several polymer carriers. Thanks to the new line, the production of combine batches, typical application of which are color concentrates for artificial grass used for soccer fields and other sport fields, will also increase. The line will also produce burning retarders, which are mostly used in the electrotechnical industry.
The line is formed by a double-screw extruder with a capacity of up to 300 kg/hour (depends on the type of the processed material), has five dosage scales and is equipped with underwater granulation and a pump with continuous filtration of the liquid alloy, which allows for producing concentrates used for more complex applications, such as fibers or unwoven textiles. Produced granulate is transported by pressurized pneumatic transportation device to the product reservoir, from where it is packaged in the bags, using semi-automatic scales.
