Piotr Kownacki (52) graduated from the Law and Administration Department of Warsaw University. He specialised in constitutional and state law, especially in the regime of local administration bodies. He started his professional career in 1979 at the Institute of Law Studies of the Polish Academy of Science. From 1983 to 1987 he was employed in the press office of the Sejm, and then for two years worked as an Adjudicating Counsellor in the Office of the Constitutional Tribunal. In November 1989, he was appointed to the position of Director of the Office of the Government Plenipotentiary for the Reform of Local Government Structures. In January 1991 he was nominated Undersecretary of State in the Office of the Council of Ministers. P. Kownacki was a Vice-President of the Supreme Chamber of Control from 15 July 1991 to 3 August 1999. After he left the Supreme Chamber of Control at his own request in August 1999, he held the position of Vice-President of the Bank for Environmental Protection (Bank Ochrony Srodowiska). On 1 September 2001, he was once again appointed by the Marshal of the Sejm to the position of Vice-President of Supreme Chamber of Control. in October 2006 the PKN ORLEN Supervisory Board appointed P. Kownacki to the position of Vice President of the PKN ORLEN Management Board for Audit and Regulations. On the 18th of January 2007 P. Kownacki has been appointed to the position of the President and Chief Executive Officer of the PKN ORLEN Management Board.
Arkadiusz Kotlicki (41) graduated from the Technical University of Łódź, Faculty of Electronics. Before joining PKN ORLEN A. Kotlicki, where he holds a position of the director of Unipetrol incorporation dpt., used to work in consulting industry for over 12 years for several well known consulting companies (Accenture, ATKearney, Deloitte). At that time he participated in many local and international projects for over 20 different companies focused on system and business integration, improvements in business performance and introduction of supply chain. He attended many international trainings related to implementation of information technology, strategy formulation, change management, business process reengineering, strategic sourcing, ABC costing and software oriented training (like CAST, SAP, etc.).
Mirosław Jasiński (47) graduated from Wroclaw University with a Master’s degree in the history of art and Polish philology. From December 1987 to December 1988 he worked as a member of the Solidarity trade union’s Lower Silesia Regional Executive Committee. In November 1989 he organised a major festival of Independent Czech and Slovak Culture, and also an International Seminar on Central European Culture, which was attended by independent activists and intellectuals from several dozen countries. From May 1990 to February 1991, he was a Counsellor at the Polish Embassy in Prague, heading the political department. From 1 March 1991 he served as a Deputy Regional Governor and from May 1991 – June 1992 as the Regional Governor of the Wroclaw Region. In 1993 - 1994 he taught regional political studies at the Wroclaw Technical University. In 1994 – 2001 he worked as a scriptwriter and producer of documentary films for TVP, Poland’s public service television station. In 1999 he completed a course for members of Supervisory Boards. He was the Director of the Polish Institute in Prague since November 2001 – November 2006. M. Jasiński obtained several awards and recognitions (the J. Lederer award, The POLCULU Award or The F Kriegl Award) and he is a member of the Polish Writers Association and Polish Journalists Association. Since 1990 he has been a member (a founding member) of the Polish-Czech-Slovak Solidarity Fund, which supports independent initiatives in the Eastern Bloc.
