11-02-2016

Prague, 11. February 2016 - Unipetrol again supported the students of chemistry. The 2015 Unipetrol prizes were awarded for both, the excellent study results and for the quality of final work. Students of the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) divided among themselves the sum of 205 000 CZK; another seven thousand was awarded by Unipetrol as a scholarship.

"Our long term goal is to show students the subject of chemistry as an attractive and entertaining field in which they may find interesting and promising future career. The Prague University of Chemistry and Technology is our natural source of new young employees, and therefore we financially support annually on a long term cooperation basis the chemistry talents who achieved the best academic performance, as recognition for their academic efforts", said Unipetrol Managing Director and Chairman of the Board  Marek Świtajewski.

This year Unipetrol divided among the winners a total of 205 000 CZK. The quarter of the amount went to Rudolf Pospíšil and Jaroslav Minář for the exceptional quality of the final work and who are continuing in their studies as doctoral students. Six students received special scholarships as recognition for their exceptional academic performance. The highest amount of 120 000.00 crowns (CZK) was allocated by the Company to four students who combined their final work with Unipetrol activities by covering in their work crude oil and organic technologies. The Company also  allocated seven thousand crowns (CZK) to one of the students as a special scholarship on social grounds.

"There is traditionally a great demand by companies for our graduates and naturally we are pleased that they are regularly sought after by such an important employer as Unipetrol. I consider this a proof that we can prepare our students well not only for research careers, but also for the needs of the manufacturing sector," said Professor Karel Melzoch, rector of the ICT Prague.

Unipetrol strategic partnership with the Prague University of Chemistry and Technology (ICT), which has been going already for fifteen years sets as its main objective to popularize chemistry and support education in this field.
