On the first anniversary of Vaclav Havel's death, on 18 December, a documentary was created about the life of this prominent Czech politician and his relationship with the Polish and Poland – both on a political and a personal level. The Polish minister of culture and national heritage took patronage over the movie, titled Náš Vašek - o moci bezmocných, and financial support was provided by PKN ORLEN and Unipetrol.Náš Vašek - o moci bezmocných speaks about the shared experiences of Vaclav Havel and the Polish opposition, beginning from the meeting in Krkonose in 1978, continuing with Vaclav's friendship with Jack Kuron and Adam Michnik, the Polish-Czech solidarity movement, his stay in prison and contacts with Lech Walesa and other significant Polish individuals. Aside from photographs from this period, the movie also includes interviews with friends and coworkers of the former Czech president.
The movie is authored and directed by the FAMU (Film and TV School of Academy of Performing Arts in Prague) graduate Krystyna Krauze, and produced by Media Kontakt. The ceremonial opening of the movie will take place on 14 December in the Ponrepo movie theatre in Prague and on 17 December in the Muranow cinema in Warsaw.
