Unipetrol RPA signed a contract with Severní energetická on long-term supplies of lignite. The contract is valid from 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2017 and includes an option for Unipetrol to extend life of the contract for the years 2018 – 2021.
The lignite contract consist of fixed volume and optional volume, which can be used according to Unipetrol's real needs. Annual lignite supplies will reach up to approximately 1 million tons. As of the day of signing of the contract, the estimated value of the deliveries for 8 years 2014 – 2021 including options based on today's prices is approximately CZK 4.4 billion.
„The long-term contract with Severni energeticka is important achievement within our Strategy 2013 – 2017. It contributes to further development of existing business areas, especially in terms of stable and reliable energy sources to secure Unipetrol's energy needs connected to planned development of the petrochemical segment," said Marek Świtajewski, Unipetrol's CEO and Chairman of the Board.

Severni energeticka Group combines lignite mining and electricity and heat production, including sales. The Group consists of mining company in the North Bohemian brown coal basin (Northern Energy as) and thermal power plant in Chvaletice. This connection is supported by the European Commission and by the Office for the Protection of Competition, as a desirable extension of competition in the energy market.
