The Unipetrol Group, in cooperation with the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague and its students, succeeded in getting an entry into the Czech Book of Records. The record was set at an event that was part of the Chemical Fair held to celebrate ICT’s 60th anniversary and it was organized to support the entertainment / educational portal “Experience Chemistry’’ – a website with the goal of promoting an interest in chemistry among primary and secondary school students."In working with students from the University of Chemical Technology in Prague, we succeeded in setting a new record for inclusion in the Czech Book of Records. We spent several weeks doing the preparatory work required to master the series of experiments conducted, but the results were worth it. The outstanding students involved earned a big round of applause from everyone there,” commented Mikuláš Duda, Manager of the Press Relations Department of the Unipetrol Group.
Visitors to the Chemistry Fair had a chance to see a number of different chemistry experiments performed that are rarely seen in a typical classroom. Bengali Fire, Pharaoh's Serpents and Elephant Tooth Paste or Newtonian Fluid were among the 14 different experiments. In addition, everything was incorporated into an entertaining story of the fight between good and evil.
Experience Chemistry
The “Experience Chemistry” project was launched in 2011 as part of the International Year of Chemistry, whose general partner in the Czech Republic was the Unipetrol Group. Through web and Facebook pages, it works to provide both basic and advanced information on the world of chemistry in an entertaining way.
