Litvínov, 19 th October 2011 – Representatives of Unipetrol have awarded the best students of the Teachning and Study Center at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Most-Velebudice. Ten students received the Unipetrol Prize for excellent study results and an accompanied financial reward. One student also received a social stipend. Unipetrol has awarded a total of 54 000 Czech Crowns to students.
“The Institute of Chemical Technology Prague – and especially its branch in Velebudice – is a natural source of new young employees for Unipetrol. This is why we with ICT Prague provide annual support to talented chemistry students with the best study results as part of our long-term cooperation with the Institute of Chemical Technology,” stated Piotr Chełmiński, CEO and chairman of the board of Unipetrol. “Additionally, we believe that the Teaching and Study Center of the Institute of Chemical Technology in Most – Velebudice is an important education center within the whole North Bohemia region,” adds Piotr Chełmiński.
“The education of students in the Teaching and Study Center at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Most-Velebudice is an important and welcome activity for the Institute of Chemical Technology Prague, and allows the provision of quality university education to interested students and contributes to the development of the region, which has a significant chemical industry. The Institute of Chemical Technology Prague highly appreciates the fact, that Unipetrol a.s. has decided to provide awards to the best students in this form of study as a form of recognition for their study efforts,” says prof. Ing. Pavel Hasal, CSc., vice-rector for pedagogy of the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague.
The Unipetrol Awards are given to the students with best average grades at the Teaching and Study Center at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Most-Velebudice every year. The monetary rewards ranged from 3 000 to 15 000 CZK. The first prize and a special reward of 15 000 CZK was awarded this year to a student in his fourth year who has achieved the best possible average grades, i.e. 1.0. Besides rewarding students with the best grades, Unipetrol also provides social stipends to students with inferior social backgrounds. This year, a stipend of 5 000 CZK was awarded to one female student.
The cooperation of the Unipetrol group and the Institute of Chemical Technology Prague has begun in 2002 and has also provided financing e.g. for students of the Institute of Chemical Technology Prague who have won competitions on the best master thesis and dissertation. Additionally, the Institute of Chemical Technology Prague and Unipetrol are closely cooperating this year within the International year of chemistry 2011.
