The petrochemicals company Unipetrol came second in the prestigious ranking of the Euromoney magazine The company has now successfully defended its second place in the Energy category for Central and Eastern Europe twice in a row.
The best position among Polish companies was again taken by PKN Orlen
Prague, 12th June 2009 – The Unipetrol Group is the second best ranked energy company in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), according to the international financial magazine Euromoney based in London. The Euromoney awards "Best companies of CEE" are based on a survey among analysts at leading banks and research institutes in the region. Unipetrol came second this year in this expert ranking in the Power&Energy sector. The company received an award in the same category last year, also taking second position.
The Euromoney evaluation is considered to be a prestigious award from the experts monitoring the capital markets. 101 analysts and financial experts working in the region participated in this year’s research for CEE. The respondents to the questionnaire are asked to nominate the top-three companies in each of the countries or sectors they cover. They take into account market strength, profitability, growth potential, earnings and also the quality of the management in their selection.
Euromoney awards are granted in 8 categories, the CEE ranking by sectors is being used for the fifth time this year. The first position in the Power&Energy sector this year went to the Hungarian company MOL, also No.1 in Hungary. The Polish PKN Orlen concern was, just as last year, the Best company on the Polish market and also the Best corporate governance in Poland. In the CEE ranking it came second in the Most Transparent Accounts category.
