Litvínov, 26 thJuly 2011– The Unipetrol Group continues it s activities to support the regional development and will divide between thirteen North Bohemian towns and communities CZK 1,550,000 in total. From these gifts social, educational and ecological projects will be financed. During May Unipetrol RPA signed a cooperation agreement with the Ústí region, on the basis of which it will donate CZK 2,000,000 this year. The goal of this cooperation is to support sustainable development of the region and to improve its residents’ life quality.
“During out long-time cooperation with the communities in the North Bohemia region we provided financial support for several successful projects. The biggest included the renovation of the current fire reservoir in Český Jiřetín or equipping the rooms in the Children’s Diagnostic Institute and the Educational Care Centre in Most. Signature of new donation agreements will enable realisation of more investments improving the quality of life in the Ústí region,”said Piotr Chełmiński, CEO of Unipetrol Group.
The financial resources provided by the Unipetrol Group will be used, e.g., to construct a children’s playground in the gardens of Karel Havlíček Borovský in Most, where CZK 100,000 will go. Construction of parking spaces and reconstruction of a support wall in Hora Svaté Kateřiny will require CZK 65,000 while a significant sum of CZK 300,000 will go towards equipping the chemical laboratory if the primary school with extra language education and the kindergarten in Litvínov.
The towns and communities receiving the financial gifts include Brandov, Český Jiřetín, Horní Jiřetín, Hora Svaté Kateřiny, Klíny, Litvínov, Lom, Louka u Litvínova, Mariánské Radčice, Meziboří, Most, Nová Ves v Horách and Želenice.
Where all Unipetrol helps
These financial gifts to the communities are a part of the social responsibility concept espoused by the Unipetrol Group. Other activities in this area include e.g. cooperation with the Ústí region, to which Unipetrol donated this year CZK 2 million for generally beneficial projects, installation of special boxes for the protected peregrine falcon in the Unipetrol RPA area and financing of introduction of over 3 000 fish into the Bílina river.
Unipetrol also provides long-time support to the Educhem high school. The latest financial donation provided to the school was used for purchase of educational equipment such as data projectors, chemicals for experiments at the chemistry classes, computer rooms equipment or additional sports equipment for physical education.
