The top management of Unipetrol will exchange their Audis for Škoda Superbs. The new corporate strategy is for all Unipetrol Group companies to use only Škoda cars. The decision was driven by the aim to support Czech industry.
Prague, 11 May 2009 – In the future Unipetrol Group companies will only purchase cars from Škoda Auto. The new car policy approved by the Board of Directors anticipates the gradual replacement of the entire Unipetrol Group fleet, depending on the condition and age of the vehicles, within six to seven years. At present the fleet comprises close to 400 company cars.
The decision to standardise the vehicle fleet under the Škoda brand is a sign of the Unipetrol’s solidarity with local industry. Even members of the company’s top management will drive Škoda cars, which they will receive in exchange for the Audis they have been driving up till now. The CEO of Unipetrol, Krzysztof Urbanowicz, who received an Audi car upon joining the company, will take his place behind the wheel of a new Škoda Superb over the next few days. The one-year old Audi A8 was already sold.
The new company strategy takes in various models, from the Fabia to the Superb. Unipetrol intends to lower its costs – not only operating costs, but the expenses involved in servicing and maintaining the vehicle fleet – by using just the one brand.
"As a Czech company we have decided to support Czech industry during this crisis. That is the main reason why all members of the Board will from now on drive only Škoda cars”, says the CEO of Unipetrol, Krzysztof Urbanowicz.
