Litvínov, 4th June 2012 – 51 employees of Unipetrol RPA and Česká rafinérská in Litvínov helped by working for non-profit organizations in the region. On 28th May to 1st June, they gradually spent one workday working for the following nonprofit organizations: Oblastní charita Most, občanské sdružení Arkadie or the Obnova Krušnohoří fund. Unipetrol RPA employees had the option of participating in the Volunteer day for the first time ever, while Česká rafinérská has been participating regularly since 2007.

Each employee could choose which of the proposed projects they wanted to help. Eventually, most of them decided to help with the spring cleaning of the forest organized by the Obnova Krušnohoří fund. Some employees painted hallways while working for the "Rodina v tísni" center in Osek, and five employees of Unipetrol RPA did gardening and cleaning work in the protected workshop in Bystřany, managed by Arkadia. Employees of Česká rafinérská worked with their colleagues from Unipetrol RPA on workplaces in the Most and Litvínov regions and also helped with spring work in the chateau park in Veltrusy.

„Employees of both companies who decided to help the regional nonprofit organizations deserve a lot of praise," said the CEO and chairman of the board of Unipetrol, Piotr Chełmiński. "In the future, we would like to extend regional help in the form of the Volunteer days to other companies in the Unipetrol group. Our employees will have another chance to help in Autumn," added Piotr Chełmiński.

Unipetrol RPA organized their first Volunteer days to date. The event was inspired by the Goodwill days, which have been organized for several years by Česká rafinérská. Eventually both events merged into one large event on the same date.
