Litvínov, 22 February 2016 - New equipment worth a total of almost 250 thousand crowns (CZK) was donated by Unipetrol RPA to commanders of 23 units of volunteer firefighters of the Ústí Region. Each unit will receive three new fire hoses and multi-port ball valves. Governor of the Ústí Region Oldřich Bubeníček and Unipetrol RPA Executive Martin Durčák also handed the firefighters commemorative certificates as a remembrance and a thank you gesture for their sacrifice.
"During the intervention in August, 500 professional and volunteer firefighters took turn in fighting the fire. Thanks to the dedication and professional intervention the fire has not spread; the whole occurrence was handled without serious impacts on human health or the environment. A damage to production technologies was also minimal" said Marek Świtajewski, the Managing Director of Unipetrol RPA. "A huge thank you goes to all, especially for the extraordinary commitment during the firefighting stage" Marek Świtajewski added.
The fire was brought under control and finally put out by 42 professional and volunteer firefighting units of the Ústí Region and 14 units of the Central Bohemian Region. "I would like to thank to all members of the Integrated Rescue System. Mainly due to their commitment it was possible to handle the situation. We very much appreciate their work," said the governor of the Usti Region Oldřich Bubeníček.
