Unipetrol will be supporting development of municipalities in the Ústí Region with financial gifts this year too. A total of twelve municipalities and cities in the region will be sharing CZK 1,140,000. The money will in particular be used for renewal of the local infrastructure, cultural events and development of sporting activities for young people. The city of Most will be using the whole donation worth CZK 300,000 for implementation of 10 projects, for example in support of its efforts to win the title “European City of Sport”.
“In cooperation with representatives of the municipalities we managed this year to choose several projects in the field of establishing a sporting infrastructure or support for sporting activities focused primarily on children and young people. Lack of activity among children and options for them to meaningfully spend their leisure time is an issue of importance to the whole of society,” says Łukasz Piotrowski, Executive Director of Unipetrol RPA.
“This is why we make significant efforts in this field, also in terms of our support for the youth ice hockey club HC VERVA Litvínov,” adds Łukasz Piotrowski.
In terms of support for sport, Meziboří for example gained CZK 150,000 for the local children’s sports clubs and Český Jiřetín will be using the donation for reconstruction of its sports field as will the municipality of Brandov. Lom will be using its CZK 60,000 to repair the roof of the stands at its sports centre.
A significant number of projects which Unipetrol supports constitute establishment of the local infrastructure and social projects. The city of Hora Svaté Kateřiny plans to invest the donated CZK 60,000 into construction of street lighting and an access road for plots of land designated for construction of family houses. Most received funds for holding events to benefit users of the services of the Parkinson Club in the city and operation of the Mental Health Helpline.
“Support for regional development projects is now already a tradition which we plan to continue next year too,” says Łukasz Piotrowski.
