A newly opened Benzina Expres station in Kopřivnice marks a beginning of a rebranding process of the self-service stations operating so far under the Expres 24 brand. The further development of the concept includes opening of the fifth station of this kind in April 2016 in Poděbrady. The reason behind the process is growing Benzina brand awareness and popularity, which should lead to further consumer interest for self-service fuel stations.
Since 2012, BENZINA, representing a retail segment of the Unipetrol Group, has been expanding gradually its network of self- service petrol stations. This makes the company the only player among the major participants of the Czech fuel market developing the concept. Currently the service of self- fuelling under Expres 24 brand is offered at stations in Hradec Králové, Vysoké Mýto and Ostrava. The rebranding will also include these stations.
“The current results are showing that there is a potential to develop the concept of self-service stations further. On the saturated Czech market that is in the field of petrol stations extremely competitive on the European scale, expanding the network is one of the way to ensure our further growth." says CEO of BENZINA Marek Zouvala.
The self-service petrol stations opened nonstop, offer a good quality fuel Natural 95 or Diesel TOP Q for a low price. The customers can pay there by credit card or cash. "We are working on the implementation of payment terminals directly into the pumping racks in order to make the purchase for customers as comfortable as possible. This intelligent rack is in operation in Kopřivnice. We plan to put it into operation also at other self-service petrol stations gradually in coming year," says Marek Zouvala.
Both, the new stations in Kopřivnice and the one to be built in Poděbrady will be located in the parking lots at hypermarkets Tesco.
"It makes sense to install the self-service petrol stations either in areas where it is difficult to keep personnel – for example in very remote locations or where people are already shopping and there are many potential customers. For those it is comfortable to buy also fuel when shopping," explains Marek Zouvala.
