Unipetrol decided to entrust the German company Linde Engineering with a major package consisting of engineering, procurement and construction management for the reconstruction of the damaged facility in Záluží. In turn, Technip company will be responsible for delivering some technological components such as four new pyrolysis furnaces for the unit. Both companies are world leading technology partners for plant engineering and construction worldwide. According to the schedule, the unit which was damaged during the accident on 13 August 2015, is planned to be put into full operation in October 2016.
“We are doing our maximum in order to put the Ethylene unit into operation in the shortest possible term. The involvement of internationally recognized and experienced companies Linde and Technip is a quality guarantee of repair works and should maximally contribute to compliance with a set schedule," said Marek Świtajewski, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Unipetrol.
During the repair works, safety will remain the main priority. The restart of partial operation at the Ethylene unit (at 65%), including related petrochemical production and increase of the capacity utilization of Litvínov refinery, is planned in July 2016. The standard operation of the Ethylene unit at maximum capacity utilization is very roughly estimated for October 2016.
