Seventy volunteers from Unipetrol Group helped during the Volunteer Days to the regional non-profit organizations. The employees cleaned the river banks at Nové Vody in the Most region, painted premises of the Asylum House in Minice close to Kralupy, cleaned up the garden in the orphanage in Kralupy or created didactic utilities to support the development of children with disabilities in Pardubice. The Volunteer Days of Unipetrol Group have been being organized every year since 2012.
„In the Most region, we take care of approximately 250 hectares of fishing grounds and fish ponds, and we are bothered about litter and rubbish that is being left around our waters by careless people. We are pleased that the employees of Unipetrol helped us with so much needed cleaning of the rubbish," says Jiří Jakeš from the Czech Fishing Union in Most. "There were collected in total 200 large bags of waste, dozens of tires, bags of insulation from cables and there appeared also seats from a car, an armchair or a fridge. The total weight of the collected waste is about several tons," adds Jiří Jakeš.
"In comparison with previous years, we extended our offer of volunteering activities in three different locations and gave employees the opportunity to choose one of three terms. The volunteers participated most often in the cleaning at Nové vody," says Mikuláš Duda, spokesman of Unipetrol.
In the period from September 21 to 23, the volunteers from Unipetrol Group not only helped fishermen, but also painted the premises of the Asylum House and the Halfway House for Mothers with Children that have been being operated by the Parish Charity Kralupy nad Vltavou in Minice. The employees volunteering in the Early Care Centre in Pardubice created individual didactic utilities that will help children with disabilities in their further development.
The Volunteer Days of Unipetrol Group have been being organized on a joint basis since 2012. The volunteering employees have the opportunity to spend one day working for various non-profit organizations in localities where have been operating the companies of Unipetrol Group.
