Tomasz Wiatrak becomes new Chairman of the Board of Directors in Unipetrol, the owner of Benzina network

Prague, July 3, 2019 – Company´s bodies made several changes to the composition of the Board of Directors. Effective from July 3, 2019, Tomasz Wiatrak, up till now Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors, was elected new Chairman of the Unipetrol Board of Directors, replacing Krzysztof Zdziarski whose three-year term in office on the Board of Directors expired. Katarzyna Woś and Maciej Libiszewski, up till now Members of the Board of Directors, newly hold the post of Vice-Chairs of the Board of Directors. Marek Kaszuba has become a new Member of the Board of Directors. Przemysław Wacławski and Tomáš Herink continue as Members of the Board of Directors.
 
“Unipetrol is a stable petrochemical group with a strong retail part operating under the Benzina brand and with solid backgrounds in its parent group, PKN Orlen, of which it is a strategic part. The company still has a big potential to grow,” said Tomasz Wiatrak, new Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Unipetrol Group, adding: “In the mid-term horizon, our strategic plan is to focus on streamlining efficiency of our current operations at the Group-wide level. In connection with this plan, we will be working on the preparation of a long-term vision of the Unipetrol Group, fully leveraging the future challenges of the market environment and focusing on sustainable growth.”
 
Tomasz Wiatrak has been the Vice-Chairman of the Unipetrol Board of Directors since March 2018. He was especially responsible for the retail segment in which Unipetrol operates 413 filling stations in the Czech Republic under the Benzina brand. Benzina´s market share in the Czech Republic has grown by 10% to 23.4% and its operating profit (EBITDA LIFO) has increased by 29% to CZK 1.8 billion in the last two years. From this year, Benzina is also being active on the Slovak market where Unipetrol decided to start the process of building a new network. Besides Benzina, Tomasz Wiatrak was in the Unipetrol Group also responsible for setting and implementing the Group strategy, project management development, IT and integration processes within the group. Before joining Unipetrol, he had served as Chairman of the Board of Directors in the company Energa Informatyka i Technologie Sp. z o. o. He was responsible for operational and strategic management of an IT business specialized in providing modern solutions for the energy sector. Tomasz Wiatrak holds numerous certificates in audit (CIA, CGAP) and management (Prince2 Practitioner, M_o_R, ITIL) and is a leading auditor of the information security management system according to ISO/IEC 27001. He also served in a number of managerial, advisory and expert positions in the European Commission, in state administration institutions and in the private sector. He graduated from the Master’s degree programmes at the Faculty of Management at the University of Warsaw. He also attended postgraduate programme Strategic Leadership Academy organized by ICAN Institute, publisher of Polish edition of Harvard Business Review.
 
Marek Kaszuba joins Unipetrol from ORLEN Lithuania where he held the position of Investment Director and has many years of experience in the refining as well as petrochemical industry and energy engineering. He also worked in the PKN Orlen capital group for three years where he was responsible for investment development projects both in the refinery and petrochemical segments. Marek Kaszuba graduated with a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Silesian Technical University Gliwice. He also completed his MBA studies at the University of Warsaw and University of Illinois in Chicago.

The Unipetrol Group is the largest refinery and petrochemical company in the Czech Republic.
