From the beginning of April, the ORLEN Unipetrol Group will begin a planned turnaround at its Litvínov Refinery. During the two-month operational shutdown in the refining section of the production site, regular maintenance and modernisation of technologies will be carried out as well as investment projects. The refinery is expected to reach full-fledged operation in the end of May.
ORLEN Unipetrol performs a turnaround – a planned shutdown of its production facilities – to do regular maintenance of its production equipment, according to legislative and inspection requirements, every four years. During the two-month shutdown, the equipment is inspected, upgraded and prepared for the next operational cycle. ORLEN Unipetrol’s last turnaround at the Litvínov site occurred in 2020. The current turnaround is divided into two years. The refining segment will be subject to maintenance this year, and the petrochemical segment will be subject to maintenance next year.
A vast range of specific expert activities will be performed by 3,000 external, primarily Czech and Slovak workers from 20 supplier companies with which ORLEN Unipetrol has been cooperating with over the long term. ORLEN Unipetrol will do its utmost to minimise the turnaround’s impacts on the inhabitants of the neighbouring municipalities.
