Benzina to complete modernisation of its petrol station network

22-10-2008

Prague, October 22, 2008 – This year, the company has completed the main part of rebranding of its premium petrol stations Benzina plus and has modernised another 147 standard Benzina petrol stations.

The large network modernisation project, which has been with no doubt the largest of its kind in the Czech market, was started in 2006. The reconstruction cost in total CZK 1.3 billion. “By reaching its 50th anniversary, Benzina has paradoxically grew younger. Now I can officially state that our company has drawn a line below its past and has completed the modernization process,” says about the network upgrade the company executive Martin Durčák.

Thanks to the upgrade, Benzina has extended its offer of premium fuels by a high-octane petrol VERVA 100 and diesel fuel VERVA Diesel. The quality of services has improved in the entire network including shops and food service, including a new generation of IVT gaming terminals operated by Sazka, offering on-line lottery games on over a hundred petrol stations Benzina plus. Over one half of the Benzina 110 car wash stations has been rebuilt or upgraded, featuring the largest number of top car wash stations in the Czech market.

Next year the company is planning to introduce new premium grade petrol and to develop its own very successful food service concept, which is now generating up to 25 - 30% of the shop turnover. At present we are working on implementation of a new cash register system providing faster service, simplified cash receipts and invoicing for the users of Benzina cards. Extended cooperation with international payment cards providers shall also bring more comfort to professional drivers in the form of fleet cards valid in other countries.

In the medium-term horizon, in the year 2012, Benzina wants to reach a 20% market share on the fuel market, starting from the current 13.4% and reaching 15% in two years. The number of petrol stations shall reach 440 from the present 333, an increase by one third.

Benzina has been continuously paying a lot of attention to the quality of the fuels sold. The standard high quality of all offered fuels has been confirmed by own and independent inspections. “Till the end of September of this year, the Czech Trade Inspection has conducted over 200 test samplings of fuels at Benzina petrol stations, concluding that no samples showed any deficiencies,“ said Václav Loula, quality control director for Benzina.

Recently the premium diesel fuel VERVA Diesel has proven its unique quality in independent tests. Sulphur-free high octane petrol VERVA 100, sold at over 90 petrol stations Benzina plus, has been delivered as a “superclean“ fuel with parameters which shall only become compulsory next year.
